Yuguda Seeks Allah’s Forgiveness Over Killings

Gov. Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State says he is still praying for Allah’s forgiveness over the killing of 10 corps members and six others in the post-election violence in the area.

Addressing the people of the state shortly after his inauguration for a second term on Sunday, he said he would continue to seek Allah’s forgiveness over the incident, because it occurred at the time he was the Chief Executive of the state.

Yuguda said that as the Chief Executive of the state, who had taken an oath to protect the lives and property of the people, he was mindful that God would surely ask him to account for the lives and property that were lost during the crisis.

He declared, “Anything contrary to the oath of office I took, on the day of judgment, the Almighty Allah will ask me. He will ask me why I allowed those lives to be lost while I was a leader.

“I urge the people of the state to protect their neighbours. Life is sacred; no human being has a right to take the life of another man.”

The governor announced a donation of N20 million to the families of the 10 slain corps members, saying that N2 million should go to each of the bereaved families.
