Bauchi โ€” The Federal Ministry of Education has said that over 200 staff and students from Federal Government Colleges in Yobe State, have been absorbed into the Federal Government Girls College, Bauchi.

The transfer followed closure of their schools by the Federal Government over the insecurity situation in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa States.

Coordinating Officer, Inspectorate Unit, Federal Ministry of Education, Bauchi State office, Mallam Muhammad Tajuddeen Abdul-lahi, stated this yesterday while fielding questions from newsmen in Bauchi.

He said parents and students complied with the directives of the Federal Government regarding the movement to Federal Govern-ment Girls College, Bauchi and Federal Govern-ment College, Azare in Bauchi State.

“At the Federal Government Girls College, Bauchi, over 200 students had arrived and they have all been absorbed,” he said.

Efforts to speak to the principal of the school, Hajiya Aisha Altine Sheji, proved abortive as she was said to have travelled to Abuja on an official assignment.

But a staff of the college confirmed to news-men that they received students’, majority of them from the Federal Government Girls College, Potiskum in Yobe State. She said before the stu-dents’ arrival, adequate arrangements were made.

“We made contingency plans in respect of classrooms and hostel accommodation in anticipation of the transferred students and staff. Before they came, we had 35 students in each class room but now that they are here, we have between 40 -45 in each classroom,” he said.

The federal government recently announced the closure of some Unity schools, following the attack on FGC Buni-Yadi in Yobe State, by suspected insurgents.
