A Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Bashir Zayam has urged those calling for the removal of the Party’s National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, to have a rethink, saying, removing him cannot solve the problem of the party ahead of the 2015 general election.
The Assistant Publicity Secretary of PDP in Bauchi State disclosed this in a chat with journalists in Bauchi, ahead of the forthcoming convention of the party.
According to him, “Removing Bamanga Tukur can’t take us anywhere. If you remove him today, you will appoint somebody tomorrow and some
people may not welcome 100% ideas and programmes of the new leader.
Adding that, “Every leader has his own challenges in his domain but the challenges can be address with patience, dialogue and understanding in the best interest and well being of their followers, not removing them from offices.
He advised those agitating for the removal of Tukur to have a rethink and offer constructive criticism that will move the party and Nigeria forward.
The PDP Chieftain stressed that, “People should understand that PDP is a big party and once you have a big party, you are going to have a
complex situation. It is the ability to manage those complex situations that will determine how far you can go in the future. So, we are hopeful that we are going to surmount them and work as a team towards 2015 and beyond.
Zayam further explained that, “We have our challenges like every other families, but for us they are not insurmountable, it’s part of life, I don’t see anything as out of the ordinary. In PDP, dialogue is part of us. When we meet, we will understand each other as a family and some suggestions will be accommodated”.
He advised members of the Party to cooperate with the leadership in order to move forward.
