Suicide bomber strikes near church in northern Nigeria

KANO, Nigeria — A suicide bomber struck near a church in the northern Nigerian city of Bauchi on Sunday and some people were killed, the National Emergency Management Agency said.

The agency said “a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device close to a worship centre in Wunti Area of Bauchi State. Rescuers have evacuated the dead and injured… Casualty figure cannot be determined now.”

A Red Cross official said the target was St. John’s Catholic Church.
