Robbers kill six in Bauchi

SUSPECTED armed robbers have killed six people and injured many others in Gambiri village, Ganjuwa Local Council area of Bauchi State.

  State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Hassan Mohammed Auyo, who confirmed the incident said, “six people were killed, two were injured, from the preliminary information we obtained when we have commenced investigation of the incident. The attackers, we discovered were cattle rustlers.”

  In a different account of the incident, Director-General of Danga Security in the state, Alhaji Yusuf Hassan Sarkin Baka said, “the incident occurred around four o’clock in the morning. When the armed robbers attacked Gambiri village and killed one person, the villagers solicited for assistance of our men, we followed them when we reached the village the armed robbers had fled. We therefore, took the corpse of the person they killed away. On our way to the hospital, where the road is not good, unknown to them the armed robbers had laid ambush for them and opened fire killing one vigilante, and four other civilians from the village and injured another vigilante and a civilian.”

  Alhaji Yusuf reiterated the commitment of the vigilante to arrest criminals and bring them to book and assured the ambush will not deter their efforts in fighting criminals in the state.
