Post-Election Violence – Bauchi Inaugurates Committtee for N1.508 Billion …

Bauchi โ€” Bauchi State Government has inaugurated a committee for the disbursement of 1.508bn relief funds to the victims of post election violence in the state.

Inaugurating the committee yesterday in Bauchi, The state deputy governor Alhaji Sagir Aminu Saleh who is the chairman of the committee said “their assignment is to distribute N1.508billion, released by the Federal Government (FG) to give soccour to the victims of 2011 post presidential election violence”.

Saleh said distribution of the money within two weeks requires a lot of sacrifice from the members of the committee in order to do a thorough work to succeed.

He urged members of the committee to use their wealth of experience in the exercise and adhere to the terms of reference of the committee, adding that it will make it easy for the committee to discharge the assignment and to enable the committee move on the right course.

The terms of reference given to the committee included to disburse N1.508billion to victims of the 2011 post election violence; to liase with Sheikh Ahmed Lemu Presidential Committee and State Emergency Management Agency to obtain authentic list of the victims; To pay to the victims whose names appear on the list; to submit weekly report to the governor through the office of the Secretary to the State Government and to submit final report on the disbursement to this office within two weeks.

Members of the committee were drawn from state and FG agencies.
