Pension Scam – Aminu Saleh Accuses Officials of Betrayal of Trust

| June 27, 2012 More

Bauchi โ€” The looting and embezzlement of pension funds by some top officials in charge of the funds, amounts to betrayal of trust.

Former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Alhaji Aminu Saleh, who spoke yesterday at the launch of the maiden edition of the Bauchi State civil service Compendium and newsletter, said it is unfortunate that after people have spent the best part of their lives working for the government, the meagre monthly pension, which is supposed to support them is squandered by some persons.

He maintained that those involved must be punished.

The former SGF faulted the civil service reforms in the country, saying most of the reforms were inspired by sentiments.

“We have to openly complain over the management failure in the pension department. To say that such massive fraud could have been perpetrated under the Head of Service is an ignominy,” he said.

Governor Isa Yuguda, who was represented by his deputy, Alhaji Sagir Aminu Saleh, said the present administration is repositioning the civil service through training and other welfare packages.

Yuguda commended the Head of Civil Service, Mr Abdon Dalla Gin, for introducing the compendium and newsletter, which according to him, is aimed at guiding the state towards developing the public service.

Earlier, the Head of Service, Mr Abdon Gin, called on civil servants to review their attitude to work.
