‘No Vital Document Was Destroyed in Bauchi MDGs Office Fire’

Bauchi โ€” Following the fire outbreak that gutted the office of the Bauchi State Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Thursday night, the Permanent Secretary Alhaji Sambo Jamberi said yesterday that all vital documents were retrieved and are in safe condition.

Briefing newsmen yesterday on the extent of the damage of the fire outbreak that affected five offices of the MDGs, the permanent secretary said, “I was called on phone that there was a fire outbreak at our office. I was in Abuja with five of my staff attending a sensitization workshop and we had to cut short the meeting to come back. According to the security man on duty that day, it was a direct contact of PHCN that ignited the fire”.

Jamberi said the office building of three bedrooms was destroyed, two plasma television, one fridge, three split air-conditioners, photocopying machine and the complete office furniture were also destroyed. He denied media reports that he earlier said that he was not competent to speak on the matter saying, “When newsmen came to us, I asked our information officer to inform them that it is too early to speak because we have investigate and know the extent of the damage done to our offices. All our vital documents, files, computers and furniture among other valuable items were rescued and are in safe hands. We appreciate the quick action taken by state’s fire service to put out the fire”.
