Despite rising security challenges in the northeast geo-political zone, the governor of Bauch State, Isa Yuguda, has disclosed that since 2009, the state has never had a major incidence of insecurity except media harps about attacks, which never existed.

The governor, who disclosed this when he led a delegation of the state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pay a courtesy visit on the party National Chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur in Abuja, also denied any form of crisis or rancour in the state PDP, insisting that: “We are one family.”

According to him, “We have enjoyed relative peace in our state in the zone and since 2009 we have never had a major incidence of insecurity except media harps about attacks here and there, which never existed. Politically Sir, the entire Bauchi State today is PDP, the opposition tried to wreck havoc during the presidential elections and other elections but today have remain silence, because they have tried as much as possible to wrestle the mandate from us, taking us to Tribunal up to Supreme Court and we won in all cases. Your Excellency, the gap between me and the CPC during the election was almost 600 thousand. That is the kind of politics that we have, we are truly PDP and PDP is really gaining a lot more ground.

“Our party in Bauchi, we work as a family, we are a team, any person that is not in our team is not with you that we assure you and if he (the person) comes to you he is trying to destroy us and by extension trying to destroy you sir, we speak with one voice.”

Explaining the reason for the visit, Governor Yuguda said, “We are here not only to pay a courtesy visit on you and members of Executive, but to wish you well and to pray for you and confirm to you and assure you that our loyalty to you as our party chairman is unalloyed.

“Maybe until of recent, things started changing, you used to know Bauchi people, our words are our bones, until of course maybe of recent when the societal dynamic and the wind of change started to permeate into Bauch and we started having people who speak from both side of their mouth, but I am assuring you that our team as you have it here before you, will speak with one mind, we say things as they are and we say nothing but the truth, because we appreciate that we are in the profession that is guarded by almighty Allah.

“This profession produces the leaders, who lead humanity in Nigeria on behalf of the almighty, from the presidency to the last electoral position. Your Excellency, I want to assure you that we fathom in a lot of faith into the profession of politics, because we don’t want to be in the profession that will take us to hell. We want to be in the profession that will take us only to heaven, so we try to avoid anything bad associated to politics, from backbiting to all the intrigues and rancor, also disobedience to constituted authority and every other vices that you can think of, which even if it associated to politics, in Bauchi state we have tried as much as possible to shake it off.”

Yuguda, however, advised Nigeria leaders not to discriminate any Nigerian for either his tribal extraction or the religion he confesses, adding that anything on the contrary will take such person to hell.

Responding, the party National Chairman, Tukur emphasized the three principles he said he will work with as the leader of the party, these principles according to him are; reconciliation, reformation and rebuilding.

In reconciliation, he said he will reconcile the party and bring aggrieved members back to the party, reformation he said where things are not right, they will be amended, while in rebuilding, Tukur disclosed that the party will be built on equity and justice.

He maintained that if these three things could be achieved peace, security and investment would come to the country, adding “If we can achieve these three important things, peace will result, security will come and investment will come, so that we will be able to build our party, build economic development, help our people to achieve the possibility, help our country to really achieve the quality of life we all aspired.”
