Bauchi โ€” More than 13 communities in Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area of Bauchi state are to benefit from a Japanese water support to the state.

The Coordinator of the Women Empowerment Initiative Nigeria (WEIN) Bauchi state chapter Mrs. Lydia Haruna Tsammani said at the commissioning of a borehole at Zango one of the benefiting communities that 13 boreholes would be provided in the selected communities.

According to her, the Japanese gesture has reduced the incidences of water borne diseases in these communities as well as leverage the time and energy of women who now channel these other economic generating activities. Mrs Tsammani said, “With this gesture the girl child would have the opportunity to attend school since water is now close and available in those communities.”

The coordinator said training was given to some members of the communities on how to maintain the boreholes along with tools kits to all the 13 benefitting communities to ensure that the communities enjoy these facilities for a long time.

She appealed to the state government, legislatures, stakeholders and the good people of Bauchi state to strive hard and restore peace in the area to attract farther national and international donors funding in the state.
