Bauchi โ€” The Bauchi State Government has explained that the newly constructed N13 billion Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa International Airport would boost its internally generated revenue.

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr Ishola Micheal Adeyemi, made this known, yesterday, during a facility tour by journalists in Bauchi.

He said apart from boosting economic activities in the state, the airport will bring investors to the state, thereby creating more employment opportunities.

Adeyemi said: “The newly constructed airport will also serve as an alternative cargo airport for Kano State so that traders who desire to transact business in Bauchi, can do so without taking road transportation. This will ease their stress and make their travels comfortable.”

The Chief Press Secretary, who mentioned that over N13bn was expended on the construction of the airport project, said that the airport would revitalise the tourism potentials in the state.

He said that the tarmac of the airport has the capacity to contain seven boeing 747 airplanes, adding that the airport will not operate night flights.

Adeyemi said that efforts by previous administrations to construct the airport proved abortive, praising the administration of Isa Yuguda for fulfilling the dream of Bauchi State people of owning an airport of international standard.
