The Bauchi State Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, Leprosy and Malaria (BACATMA) is to spend N140 million on indoor residual spray (IRS) to combat malaria in the state.

The Chairman of the agency, Dr Abdulaaziz Manga, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Bauchi.

He said that the exercise had already commenced in Misau and Giade local governments areas of the state and would last for 21 days.

“The agency has started another phase of the spray to ensure that this rainy season does not increase malaria cases,’’ he said.

Manga said that the exercise would be extended to all the 20 local government areas of the state.

“As soon as funds are made available to the agency, we will start the spray in other local government areas of the state,’’ he said. (NAN)
