Gunmen attack 2 police stations, kill one, kidnap 6 in Bauchi

UNKNOWN gunmen on Sunday went beserk as they attacked two police stations in Jama’are and Ganjuwa Local Government Areas of Bauchi State, in separate attacks in which one security guard of a construction company was killed and six people, including two expatriates, were kidnapped.

The attackers, the Nigerian Tribune learnt, also attacked the police stations in Jama’are, the headquartes of Jama’are Local Government Area as well as the prison yard in the town, while another group of attackers attcked the police station at Kafin Madaki, the headquarters of Ganjuwa LGA.

The hoodlums, whose number could not be ascertained as of the time of filing this report, it was further gathered, burnt down two vehicles found on the premises of the police station in Jama’are before they swooped on Setraco Company, a construction company operating in the area.

Both policemen at the two stations and prisons officials, it was learnt did their best and succeeded in repelling the hoodlums’ attacks.

Speaking with journalists in Bauchi in a telephone interview, the  Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Mallam Mohammed Ladan, confirmed that there were attacks on two police stations, prison yard and the construction company, where one person was killed, while six others were kidnapped.

“Yes, we were attacked but our policemen repelled the attacks on the police stations in Jama’are and Kafin Madaki. Some hoodlums also attacked the prison yard of the Nigerian Prisons Service in Jama’are and the security men at the prison yard also repelled the attack,” Mallam Ladan said while confirming the attacks.

He added that, “they burnt two vehicles at Jama’are police station, they attacked Setraco Construction Company, killed a local security guard of the company and succeeded in kidnapping six people.”
