Senate President David Mark Saturday led Federal Government’s delegation to South Africa to cheer up the Super Eagles as they confront Burkina Faso in the finals of Africa Cup of Nations today.

This came as the leadership of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) charged the Super Eagles to use today’s match with Burkina Faso to restore the dignity and pride of the nation by firing up the Nigerian spirit to win the African nation’s cup.

Mark, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Paul Mumeh, charged the Eagles  to reignite the indomitable spirit of Nigeria in the final match against their opponents by winning the Africa Nations Cup.

Mark who led the Federal Government ‘s delegation on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan to cheer the Nigerian stars at the final clash said all Nigerians were solidly backing them up with prayers.

According to Mumeh, Mark said upon his departure to South Africa from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja at about 10:15 yesterday, that Eagles should not leave anything to chance.
The statement quoted Mark as saying “our boys should show absolute concentration throughout the duration of the match. They must not make the mistake of underrating their opponents till the last whistle.” According to Mark,”Our national pride is at stake and you know sports especially soccer is a unifying factor in Nigeria. I can say with every amount of certainty that all Nigerians are yearning for the victory. They are saying to the Eagles ,’go with the Nigerian spirit and win the trophy.’”

Mumeh said Mark was optimistic that the Eagles would triumph over their opponents because their performances had improved progressively with every match.
In the  delegation were Governor Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State, Senators, Adamu Gumba, Ayogu Eze and Nurudeen Abatemi. Others were Police Affairs Minister, Caleb Olubolade, Minister of State Foreign Affairs, Professor Viola Onwuliri and Minister of State for Works Bashir Yuguda.

Meanwhile,  the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has charged the Super Eagles to use today’s match with Burkina Faso to restore the dignity and pride of the nation by firing up the Nigerian spirit to win the African nation’s cup.

The PDP in a statement issued by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, yesterday said it strongly believes that the Nigerian players have all its takes to overwhelm their Burkina Faso counterparts in the finals but charged them not to leave anything to chance.
It said it is optimistic that Senate President David Mark who is leading Nigeria’s official delegation to the match will bring the nation Goodluck.

“We charge the Super Eagles to go out there and make the nation proud. We believe that they have all it takes to beat their opponents and come back with the cup. At the same time they must not leave anything to chance. They must understand that millions of Nigerians are counting on them to bring back the trophy.

“Also we are optimistic that the Senate President, Senator David Mark who is leading Nigeria’s official delegation to South Africa to join in cheering the players to victory, will bring us Goodluck, “ the party said.
