The Bauchi State High Court has nullified the Judicial Commission of Inquiry set up by the Bauchi State Government, which investigated the activities of Government Ministries and Parastatals between 1999 to May 2007.

The Commission’s report was nullified on Thursday, by Justice Ibrahim Mohammed Zango, when he ruled in a suit filed by Alhaji Lawal Baraza who was asked by the Commission to refund the sum of over N3.6 billion, where he challenged the decision of the Commission and Bauchi State Government white paper that indicted him, asking the court to quash the government decision.

The Judge in his ruling said, “an order for certiorari be and is hereby granted” quashing the proceedings of the Judicial Commission of Inquiry into the management of some Ministries, Parastatals and extra Ministerial Departments of the Public Service of Bauchi State, from May 1999 to May 2007.

Adding that, “The Government white paper on the report of the commission letter written to the Plaintiff by the Bauchi State Government and the State Commissioner of Justice on December 16,2009 is also quashed”.
