Council boss blames insecurity on poverty

Bauchi—Caretaker Chairman of Dass Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Alhaji Mohammed Sadiq, has attributed the prevailing insecurity in the north to the poverty level in the country, especially among the youths.

Sadiq, who addressed newsmen, yesterday, said the insecurity situation had seriously affected North’s socio-economic, political activities considered to be the bedrock of development.

He blamed the situation on lack of political will to empower the youths, especially by politicians, who had failed to consolidate on the gains of democracy while in office.

He said in recognition of the problem he had remained committed to providing self-reliance jobs for youths and women, in which no fewer than 100 people had benefited through various training on skills acquisition.
