Cleric Calls for Investigation

| June 4, 2012 More

The Deputy Imam of Usman Bin Fodio Mosque in Bauchi, Ustaaz Hassan Shuaibu, has called for a thorough investigation into yesterday’s church explosion in Bauchi State.

Shuaibu, who spoke to the Hausa Service of Radio Deutsche Welle (Germany), said there was need for government to be thorough in the investigation in view of recent attempts by some Christians to bomb a church in the state.

A suspected suicide bomber yesterday drove his car into a church in Yalwa few kilometres outside the city of Bauchi killing at least 12 people while several others were injured.

“The only solution is for us to remain prayerful and government should work hard to uncover the culprits because sometimes if things like this happened, Muslims are often accused even before investigations are concluded,” he said.

Some of the families, who spoke, urged the government to arrest the situation.
