Bauchi Votes N77 Million to Train 1000 Women

The Bauchi State government has approved the release of N77 million for the training of 1,000 women drawn from all local government areas of the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hajiya Talatu Barwa disclosed this yesterday in Bauchi when she spoke with newsmen. She said the approval was a testimony to the commitment of the state government to empower women in the state and assured that beneficiaries would be trained in various trades. She said the trainees were given the opportunity to choose a trade out of the 11 already lined up.

“We wrote a memo to the governor, and he graciously approved the said sum to train 1000 women in various skills in the 20 local government areas of the state,” she said.

Barwa said each trainee would receive a token N20, 000 upon completion of the training to enable her start a small scale business. She added that materials and equipment would also be distributed to best performing trainees in each of the local government areas. (NAN)
