Bauchi votes N62.5m for Ramadan meals

MUSLIMS in Bauchi State are to benefit from the N62.5 million the state government has voted for them to break their fast for the 30 days the Ramadan will last.

The scheme, which covers only the Bauchi metropolis, is expected to cater for 10,000 Muslims per day.

Deputy Chairman of the 2012 Bauchi State Ramadan Feeding Committee, Alhaji Salisu Barau, told journalists yesterday that the 20 local councils are to make their separate arrangements.

Barau said money would be released in three installments, adding one-third of the amount had been released to the 120 designated mosques in the metropolis.

Last year, the state spent N51 million on Ramadan feeding in the metropolis.
