Bauchi — The village head of Barmo Gwaram in Misau Local Government Area of Bauchi State, Samaila Magaji, was killed on Tuesday by one of his subjects.
It was learnt that Magaji, 55, was hit on the head during a quarrel that ensued between him and the subject and he died in the hospital while receiving treatment.
In a statement made available to Daily Independent on Tuesday by the Bauchi State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Haruna Mohammed, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), he stated that a misunderstanding occurred between the village head and one Musa Dantata of the same village shortly after the Subhi prayer.
It said “As a result, the village head was hit in the head and later died in the hospital while receiving treatment.”
The PPRO stated that a mob subsequently beat up Dantata, saying that he was currently receiving treatment in a hospital in Misau, the headquarters of the local government area.
Mohammed said that the police were currently investigating the case.
