Bauchi, USA Sign MOU On Water, Sanitation

Bauchi โ€” Bauchi State government and the United States of America yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) as part of effort to improve water supply and sanitation in the state.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Isa Yuguda Mr Ishola Michael Adeyemi the US Ambassador to Nigeria Mr. Terrence P. McCauley was in Bauchi for the signing of the memorandum.

The US envoy said the state was chosen based on the success recorded in the water sector. He described Bauchi as the best in the country in the sector and commended the state government for being able to provide the dividend of democracy to its people in the face of the security challenges facing the North East geopolitical zone.

The statement also quoted the envoy as saying Bauchi was peaceful and conducive for any investment. He assured that more US interventions will come to the state in order to promote good governance just as he commended that government for promptly paying its counterpart fund for the RUWASA project.

Speaking, Governor Isa Yuguda thanked the US government for finding the state qualified for the programme and assured that his government will do everything possible to ensure that the project was executed according to the specifications contained in the MoU.
