Bauchi — The Bauchi State government has embarked on a comprehensive campaign programme targeting over two million children with the aim of preventing the spread of measles in the state.
Chairman of the state Primary Health Care Development Agency Dr. Nisser Umar stated this at the weekend during the commencement of the exercise.
He said about 1.6 million vul-nerable children in the state are to be vaccinated during the four-day exercise.
“At the end of the day, we may be fortunate to beat our expectation and vaccinate even more than two million eligible children since the vaccination campaign is targeted at children between nine months and 15 years,” he said.
Dr Umar stated that the agency would during the campaign period provide vaccines in1236 health facilities across Bauchi State.
“We are going to primary schools because some of the eligible children are within the school age”, he said.
