Bauchi — The Bauchi State House of Assembly is working on a bill for an act to establish a resident registration agency to enhance the security and development of the state.
Presenting the bill yesterday, the Minority Leader, Alhaji Baba Abubakar, said the agency will provide useful information for social ,political, business and financial activities in the state.
He added that the agency will provide an electronic data base that will contain demographic information of all residents of the state.
He further stated that the agency will provide highly secured identification cards for all residents of the state.
“After the registration of residents, the data base information gathered would assist the state government in allocation of resources,” he said.
The bill, which has passed first and second reading, has been forwarded to the House Committee on Science and Technology for further legislative action.
