EIGHT people were arraigned before a Bauchi chief magistrates’ court by the Bauchi State Police Command for pasting the posters of the state governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda, for president in 2015.

Arraigning the suspects in court, police prosecutor, Seargent Z Ajala told the court that they were being charged with criminal conspiracy, false news, with intent to cause offence against the public and possession of seditious materials.

Ajala said that the suspects, Sani Adamu Danyaro; Tukur Yakubu Gamji, Kamal Jibrin Dantani, Abdul Ibrahim, Nuru Ahmed Mahmud, Mohammed Garba, Adamu Moh’d and Mamu Ibrahim, criminally conspired, produced and printed about 1,000 copies of poster, proclaiming Governor Yuguda’s intention to contest for the Nigerian presidency in 2015.

He said the accused printed the posters without the knowledge of Governor Yuguda, adding that 823 posters were recovered by the police from the accused, in addition to four negative films and one computer printout.

The police prosecutor further stated that the accused carried out their illegal activity, knowing that it was capable of causing fear and alarm to public peace, which he noted was contrary to Sections 96,418 and 419 of the Penal Code Laws.
