The Bauchi State Government has bestowed honour on Aminu Maigari, the Chairman of the Nigeria Football Association, NFA.

A statement by the NFA quoted Bauchi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, as saying that Mr. Maigari was honoured by his state because of what the country had achieved in international football.

It said that the government had approved the renaming of a major street in the capital city after the NFA boss.

“This is to inform you that approval has been granted by His Excellency, the Governor to name the Federal Low-Cost Junction, Zango Market Road after your good self. The road will now be called Alhaji Aminu Maigari Road,” the statement said.

In his response, Mr. Maigari, described the honour as “delightful.”

“Words are inadequate to express my utmost delight and joy at this honour because it is coming from my home state. I am truly excited,” he said.

In the last three years, since Mr. Maigari took over the mantle of leadership at the NFA, Nigeria’s national teams have won six different trophies at competitive tournaments and friendly games.
