Bauchi โ€” Bauchi State Muslims Christians Peace Movement and Saqafatul Islam Foundation have expressed support for amnesty to Boko Haram members.

Chairman of Muslims Christian Peace Movement Ambassador Aminu Sidi and Chairman of Saqafatul Islam Foundation Iliyasu Ahmed Aliyu spoke separately while reacting to the constitution of the committee set by the federal government for amnesty to Boko Haram.

They said there is no alternative to peace and so government must follow all channels that will lead to peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.

Ambassador Aminu urged Nigerians to embrace peace and dialogues as a way of fostering mutual understanding and harmonious relationship, saying granting amnesty to the insurgents will give them more courage and trust to come out and face government representatives for dialogues towards achieving peace. “If the Federal Government granted amnesty to the insurgents, it will build confidence of Nigerians and the insurgents and it will lead to open negotiations between the insurgents and government”, he said.

Chairman of Saqafatul Islam Foundation Iliyasu Ahmed Aliyu said “It is only the federal government that can grant amnesty to the insurgents and northern leaders should also summon courage to encourage the insurgents to come out for dialogue since no one will arrest them”.
