THE Bauchi State government, on Saturday, appealed to the people of the state to exercise patience over the current acute shortage of water being experienced in the state capital, Bauchi and its environs.

Addressing a press conference at the Press Centre of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), in Bauchi, the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Sanni Burra, attributed the shortage of water supply to the increase in the population of the state, which he noted as responsible for the increase in consumption.

He added that most of the water pipelines in the town had become rusty as they had already aged, having exceeded their lifespan, adding that some of them had been blocked, which prevented water from reaching the people.
