IN its determination to boost information dissemination at the grass roots, the Bauchi State government has distributed 20 new computer/laptops sets and internet modems to information officers in the 20 local government councils in the state.

The distribution, according to the Commissioner for Information, Mr Muhammad Damina, while speaking at the presentation ceremony, held at the Conference Hall of the Sa’adu Zungur Press Centre at the Government House, Bauchi, was aimed at supporting the officers at the grass roots to enhance their services.

Represented by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, John Maina, Damina stated that Governor Isa Yuguda-led administration in the state was poised to ensure the dissemination of all its activities to the grass root and called on the beneficiaries to use the items for the purpose they were meant for, saying that they would be monitored in order to ensure compliance.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to Governor Yuguda, Mr Ishola Adeyemi, noted that the Yuguda administration had many things to show to the world, adding that the administration had put in place many developmental projects at the local government level in the state, which he said were not being reported by the media.

While declaring that Governor Yuguda had succeeded in his human development drive, the CPS called on the beneficiaries to bring out to the world the daily happenings in their localities and also use the facilities to bridge the communication gap between their people and the government.

Also speaking, the acting chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State council, Alhaji Ibrahim Malam Goje, congratulated the information officers and called on them to justify the confidence reposed in them.

He then commended the state government for doing a lot for the media sector since it assumed office in 2007.

Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, the chairman of the Federated Chapel of the NUJ, Alhaji Abdu Hassan, said for long, due to their handicap, they could not be able to send their reports from their respective areas.

He expressed apprecaition to Governor Yuguda for the honour and pledged to utilise the facilities for the purpose it was meant for.
