Bauchi debunks killing of Corp Members in bomb attack

The Bauchi State Government has debunked the rumours making the rounds in the country that 50 corp members were killed in a bomb attack at the NYSC Wailo camp in Bauchi state.

The Commissioner of Information, Mohammed Daminna, who debunked the rumour while briefing newsmen      Wednesday in Bauchi, described the information as false and the handwork of mischief -makers whose aim is to destabilize the peace and security of the state.

According to him, “I want to refute the false in formation presently going round in the state that 50 corp members were killed a bomb attack.  We have confirmed from the NYSC authorities in the state and there is no report or incidence of a bomb attack.  This is just a mere rumour that is being carried by saboteurs who do not want the progress of the state”.

He urged the people in the state to be calm and go about their normal businesses, saying that the state Government was committed in ensuring the security of lives and property in the state.

Also reacting to the alleged bomb attack, the Chairman of the State Emergency Operation Team, Alhaji Inuwa Bello said the rumour was a mere fabrication and urged people in the state to ignore such false in formation.

When Vanguard visited the NYSC camp in Wailo, there was no sign of bomb explosion as all there was absolute calm and all the corp members at the camp were seen going about their normal businesses.

In an interview with the Chairman of NYSC Governing Board at the camp, he debunked the rumour saying that the information could be politically motivated by some mischief_makers whose aim was to create fear and tension within the corp members.

According to him the state government has made adequate arrangement that will ensure the security of lives and properties of the corp members throughout their one year of National Youth Service corp in the state.

He assured the parents of the corp members in the state of their safety, adding that there was no need for them to be tensed up.

Meanwhile some of the corp members have protested their posting in the state, expressing fears of their safety.

It was gathered that some of the  442  out of the 1250 corp members have sought for redeployment to their regions in view of the insecurity experienced in most part of the northern states of the country.
