At least 15 die in Nigeria attacks

4 June 2012

Suicide bomb attacks on two evangelical churches in Nigeria yesterday killed at least 15 people and wounded 38 others, the Red Cross said. Among the wounded were six children, the Red Cross spokesman said.

One attack took place at the Living Faith church as the congregation was leaving the morning service in the Yelwatudu area of Bauchi state, about 12 km (7 miles) from the state capital.

The other took place at the nearby Church of Christ.

The deaths occurred in the attack on the Living Faith church.

No one has claimed responsibility for the attacks. The militant Islamist group Boko Haram has carried out previous similar attacks on churches and other targets in the country.
