A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State, Alhaji Musa Sikeli, has said the state chapter of the party has not endorsed President Goodluck Jonathan for 2015, saying anything contrary is meant to deceive the president.
Sikeli, a Bauchi South senatorial aspirant, according to his media consultant, Sanusi Muhammed, said the Bauchi State chapter of the party had not announced its decision on the 2015 elections as being claimed in some quarters.
He noted that the state governor, Mallam Isa Yuguda, who is the leader of the party in the state, had not come out to show any open support for any aspirant in the party, adding that for the party machinery in the state to be quoted as saying that Bauchi PDP has endorsed the candidature of President Jonathan meant there was a hidden agenda.
“Governor Yuguda, as the leader of the party in the state, has not shown open support for any aspirant for now and for the party machinery to be quoted as saying it has endorsed the candidature of President Jonathan signifies the existence of a hidden agenda of imposition, that may cause anti-party activities in 2015,” he said.
The PDP chieftain lamented that the party was currently facing crisis, which had led to the defection of some members, including five state governors, to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), saying it was high time PDP put its house in order.
“PDP is already enmeshed in crisis that has defied solutions. The party has recorded significant loss of credible members, including governors and legislators, while its national leadership has lost bearing and focus on how to address the lingering problem. It is enveloped in deceit and pretence that may cause its defeat in 2015,” he said.
Sikeli called on leaders of the party at all levels to treat its members equally, no matter the position they were holding.
