2015: North Yet to Pick Consensus Candidate to Replace Jonathan

The political kingmakers in northern Nigeria are yet to anoint a consensus candidate to replace President Goodluck Jonathan come 2015 presidential election. Sunday Punch newspaper reports that no fewer than seven northern governors are jostling for the number one position in the country. The newspaper reports that Governors Babangida Aliyu of Niger State, Sule Lamido of Jigawa State, Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State, Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State, Ibrahim Shema of Katsina State, Rabiu Kwankwaso of Kano State, and Aliyu Wamakko State, have all indicated interest in ruling Nigeria, and that none has shown any interest in backing down.
