THE Bauchi State chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has called upon the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to provide the Super Eagles all the
necessary support to excel at the third African Nations Championship (CHAN) which commences this weekend in South Africa.
The call was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of its congress held in Bauchi.
The association urged the country’s football-governing body to provide support for the national team in the championship just as they did in the last Africa Nations Cup (AFCON).
SWAN applauded the decision of the Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi to extend invitation to the members of the victorious Golden Eaglets to last year’s FIFA U-17 World Cup.
The congress further commended the NFF for initiating the construction of FIFA Goal Project in three states of the federation, including Bauchi State, and urged the federation to ensure prompt completion of the project, which SWAN noted would be for the benefit of the Nigerian youth.
The congress lamented the relegation of the Bauchi State government-owned clubside, Wikki Tourists FC from the Globacom Premier League to the nationwide league and called for concerted efforts by all stakeholders for the state to regain its image in the football arena.
